The Director General of the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDC), Eng. Jomana Attyat, received today, Monday, the Bahraini Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, Amna bint Ahmed Al-Rumaihi, and the accompanying delegation.
The delegation included the Ambassador of Bahrain to Jordan, Sheikh Khalifa bin Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa; the Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Planning and Development Authority, Eng. Ahmed Al-Khayyat; the Assistant Undersecretary for Engineering Affairs, Eng. Balsam Al-Salman; and the Director of the Communication Department, Haitham Kamal.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for joint cooperation in the fields of housing, urban planning, and construction. Attyat affirmed the Corporation’s readiness to exchange expertise and experiences with Bahrain in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries.
Attyat delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Jordanian experience in housing policies, mechanisms for self-financing, as well as pricing, qualification, planning, implementation, and supervision processes for housing projects up to the sales phase. She also touched on partnership models for providing affordable housing.
She stressed that Jordan continues to move steadily forward within the framework of the Economic Modernization Vision launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II, which aims to improve citizens' living standards, enhance urban development, and provide suitable housing for all segments of society.
Attyat also highlighted key initiatives of HUDC within the executive program of the Vision, including conducting studies on low-cost housing, setting foundations and standards for future cities, and working on legislation to regulate the housing and real estate development sectors.
Several department directors at HUDC also provided briefings on the operations and activities of their respective departments.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Attyat praised the deep-rooted and brotherly Jordanian–Bahraini relations, grounded in historic ties and shared positions under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II and his brother, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
For her part, Minister Al-Rumaihi expressed her gratitude for the warm reception, commending the competence of Jordanian engineering professionals and the strong reputation of Jordanian contractors both locally and internationally. She affirmed her country’s keenness to further strengthen cooperation in the areas of housing, contracting, and urban development.
