Eng. Jomana Attyat, participated alongside the European Union, represented by the Head of Urban and Regional Development Policies at the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy of the European Commission, Ms. Laura Liger, in chairing the meeting of the UfM Working Group on Affordable and Sustainable Housing. Representatives from the Union for the Mediterranean Secretariat also attended the meeting. This meeting, held in Dublin, Ireland, on May 15-16, followed the third ministerial conference of the Union for the Mediterranean on sustainable urban development, held a year prior in Zagreb, Croatia, focusing on exchanging successful policy measures to enhance housing affordability. The meeting covered several topics discussed over two days, including securing housing through affordable rental buildings, urban data management, mechanisms to support affordable housing ownership, social housing programs, and land provision mechanisms for this purpose.

Representatives from Mediterranean member states participated in the meeting, with representatives from Turkey, Lebanon, and Morocco representing the southern and eastern Mediterranean, and representatives from Slovenia, the Czech Republic, and Croatia, including the host country Ireland, representing the northern Mediterranean, along with representatives from partner organizations and international financial institutions.

During the opening of the meeting, Eng. Jomana Attyat spoke in her welcome speech about the Executive Program for the Economic Modernization Vision launched by His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, and the role of the relevant institution in implementing priorities regarding housing and urban development. A presentation was made on Jordan's housing policy in securing land for affordable housing during the dedicated scientific session. At the end of the meeting, participants affirmed the continuation and enhancement of cooperation and exchange of experiences among UfM member states regarding housing and sustainable urban development to achieve a decent life and improve the quality of life for their citizens. The depth of partnership between the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the European Union as co-presidents of the Union for the Mediterranean was emphasized.
